Adding a Workflow Trigger

You can add a workflow trigger to a project Workflow or to a Workflow template.

About this task

The trigger is added to the task route and executes when the Project or objects in the ContentRoutingProject are forwarded.

Procedure

  1. In the Contenta Explorer, select the ContentRoutingProject or Project containing the Workflow you want to edit from the hierarchy.
  2. Open the Workflow Edit window using one of the following methods.
    • Click Project > Workflow.
    • Click the Workflow tab at the bottom of the window and double-click the Workflow.
  3. Double-click the task route (the arrow or line that represents the route between tasks) where you want the trigger to execute.

The Task Route Properties window appears.

The trigger is executed when the user in the Start Task field forwards the Project or objects in the ContentRoutingProject to the user in the End Task field.

  4. Click the arrow to the right of the Trigger field. From the drop-down menu, which lists the triggers delivered with the software, click the trigger you want to add to this task route.

If the task route is bidirectional (that is, the task route goes both ways and is represented by a double arrow), the Task Route Properties window shows both tasks. Add the trigger to the desired task or add a trigger for each task.

  5. Click OK to add the trigger.

You can also add command line triggers to the workflow. Command line triggers are custom scripts or tools that are located in the Contenta encaps directory. To add a command line trigger, type the command that executes the script or tool in the Trigger field. Do not add the path to the script, as Contenta always looks for the file in the Contenta encaps directory.

For more information on custom triggers, refer to the Contenta Administration User topics.
