Adding fields
About this task
To add a field to an existing Object’s Property Sheet:
Procedure
- Start the Contenta Administration tool, pcmadmin, in singleuser mode (see Executing the Administration Tool).
- Access the Fields for the Property Sheet window for the object (see Accessing the Fields For Property Sheet Window).
- Click New to access the Field in Property Sheet window.
- Complete the form as described in the following table (for more information about the fields, see Defining Property Sheet Fields).
Field Description Field Name Enter a unique name for the new field.
There is a 30 character limit.
Field Type Enter a field type.
To view a list of the available field types, click on the pop-up menu button to the right of the field.
Is Field Displayable? Enter Yes or No to indicate whether the field should display in the Property Sheet in Contenta.
To select from the list of available options, click the button to the right of the field.
Is Field Modifiable? Enter Yes, No, Required, or Creation to specify how the field can be modified in Contenta Explorer.
To select from the list of available options, click the button to the right of the field.
- Click Create; the Default Value for Field window appears.
- Enter a default value for the field, or leave blank if there is no default value.
If you are creating a Property Sheet, Property List, or Select List field, see Creating Compound Fields for more information about default values for these field types.
- Click Save.
The Fields for Property Sheet window updates.
- Repeat the previous steps to create additional fields in the Property Sheet as necessary.
- When you are finished creating the Property Sheet, click Close in the Fields for Property Sheet window.
