Change Tracking

Change tracking is standard in high-end editors and SDL has made change tracking functionality work with as few restrictions and limitations as possible when used with SDL Contenta.

Overview

The information contained herein is intended for the Contenta System Administrator; someone familiar with SDL Contenta and configuring your editor tool as part of the SDL Contenta application.

This section contains the following:
  • Change Tracking Functionality
  • How Change Tracking Works in SDL Contenta
  • Configuring Change Tracking in SDL Contenta - Arbortext Editor only
  • Modifying Object Mapped Elements (OME) - Arbortext Editor Only

Known Limitation

Change tracking should only be used at the leaf node level for XMetaL and FrameMaker.

Change Tracking does not work for attributes on the root element of a document.

XMetaL and FrameMaker do not track changes to any element’s attributes.

XMetaL and FrameMaker need to have change tracking turned on again when a user opens a document with change tracking markup, if the user wants to continue to track changes. If the user does not turn change tracking on, the previous changes will still be marked, but any new edits will not be marked.
