Contenta Tool for working with Directory Objects (mkdumpdir.pl)

Starting in Contenta 5.1, Contenta provides a mechanism for establishing and using Directory Objects.

Contenta Administration Client delivers a script that, when executed on the Oracle Server, creates the Oracle directory required by the Data Pump utilities.

A script named mkdumpdir.pl is provided. It is important to use this script rather than performing direct SQL operations. This script:

  • is executed by the Oracle DBA on the Oracle server to create and manage Directory Objects for use with the Contenta database tools.
  • grants read/write permission on all “XY_” Directory Objects to xyadmin and further grants xyadmin the ability to grant other users read/write permission on these objects.

A default Directory Object named XY_DBDUMP_DIR is established the first time the mkdumpdir.pl tool is run. This ensures that at least one directory always exists on the Oracle server for use with the Contenta database utilities.
