Deleting an object

This task explains how to delete an object from either tree or list view in Contenta Web. Use Delete to remove objects from containers where you no longer want them to appear.

About this task

To delete multiple objects, you can select a range (Shift+click), or individual objects (Control+click); you can also combine these selection methods to add to, or subtract from, a range of selected objects. Multi-select works only in the list view.

Procedure

  1. In the tree view, right-click an object and then click Delete.
  2. Click Yes to acknowledge the confirmation message.

Results

When you delete an object, only that instance of the object is removed from view. If you delete an object in a project, when you post its parent back it will update the parent object in stable data, and then remove the object at that point. When a project is deleted from a Configuration, the project is also deleted from the user's desktop (or inbox).

If the object is a project, you cannot delete if there are objects on the post list. To delete, you must first post the project or remove the objects from the post list.

Only the SysAdmin can permanently delete an object that had been removed from view.
