Editor Check Out Tool Procedure
Select (click on) the object in Contenta that contains the data you want to modify, and then click
where Editor is the name of your editing application.
- Modify the data in the editor application.
- When you are done modifying the data, exit the application and save changes.
Results When You Save and Exit the Application The modifications are saved to the file(s) in the Tools Editor Check Out.
You are not prompted to import the data.
The object remain locked in Contenta.
If:
You inserted a new object-mapped element
—and—
The Prompt for New Object Naming is activated
—and—You have not previously executed the option to Scan for New Objects.
You are prompted to accept the default object name (default name is defined in the DIMAPvalue) or to indicate a new object name.If you have not completed your modifications at the end of the editing session, you can open the .xml file located in the editor checkout directory in your editor application at a later time and continue modifying the data.
When done with your modifications, to import the data back into the Contenta database and release the long-term lock(s), use the editor Check In tool.

ERROR OCCURED IF YOU SEE THIS MESSAGE IN YOUR SGML/XML EDITOR. DO NOT EDIT. EDITS WILL BE LOST. REFER TO THE TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION OF THE Contenta USER GUIDE FOR YOUR EDITOR OR CONTACT YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR.Explanation/Resolution:
This error occurs if you do not have the Arbortext Editor extensions installed. See the procedure for Configuring Arbortext Editor in the Installing SDL Contenta Client on Windows Guide to resolve this problem.
