Arbortext troubleshooting tips:

If a user attempts to check out a document when there are no Arbortext license tokens available, two error messages are presented. The first error is generated by Arbortext Editor:

Unable to obtain concurrent license for AE

[Try Again] [Cancel]

The second error message is from the Contenta checkout tool:

System error while trying to run Epic.

After the user clicks OK, the object(s) that failed to check out are left locked. Obtain sufficient licenses to avoid this situation.

XMetaL troubleshooting tips:

When running the XMetaL (round-trip edit) or XMetaL Check Out tool, if you get an automation error or an ActiveX component can't create object error, you need to manually register XMetaL. Perform the following steps from a command prompt:

cd XMetaL_home\Author

xmetalnn.exe/RegServer (where nn is the version, xmetal80.exe)

Some issues with XMetaL (crashes) require clearing of cache files. To clear cache files remove *.tbr files from the application directory for the user. For example, go to %APPDATA%\SoftQuad\XMetaL\8.0 (typically located at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SoftQuad\XMetaL\8.0) and delete *.tbr files and the gen sub-directory.
