Importing a Document

Use the Import DriveFile option on the Activity menu to import the components resulting from the split process. The import activity:

About this task

  • reads the Drive File created during the spit activity
  • connects to the Contenta database
  • imports the document components into a Contenta container object
  • maintains the hierarchical structure of the document in SDL Contenta
  • populates the Mime Type property sheet field with text/xml if the filename extension is .xml or text/sgml if the filename extension is .sgml.

To import the document components (or fragments) into SDL Contenta:

Procedure

  1. Select Activity > Import DriveFile. A browse window appears with the DriveFile directory as the default in the Look in field. Select the DriveFile that was reported in the XML Object Splitter window when the split process was complete.
  2. Click Open to begin the import process.

During the import process, Dynamic Import displays progress messages in a window titled Import from XML DriveFile. Checkmarks indicate successful completion of a process phase and Xs indicate the failure of the phase.

The Importing Fragments field displays progressive messages about the type of Contenta object and object name being created as the document fragments (components) are being imported.

If the process encounters an error, it is noted in the Import from XML DriveFile window and the import process terminates.

View the complete error message, by clicking the View Output Log button.

  3. When the import process is complete, click Close.
