Importing content
Follow these steps to import content.
Procedure
- Before importing, check the digui.cfg file located in the Contenta_home > encaps > di directory. The split_args -t switch must be set to 4 so that the exact file name, minus the extension, is used to create the object name. This ensures that file references are accurate when the FmBook and FmDoc objects are exported.
split_args = -c %s -e %s -g -protent -t 4 - Back up the files and directory you want to import.
- In Contenta Explorer, select the container into which to import your FrameMaker files then execute the Dynamic Import (DI) tool: Tools > Dynamic Import.
- Click on the File Import tab in the DI interface.
- Click Directory to Import to find the directory containing the FrameMaker files to import.
- Click once on the directory, which contains the files.
Restriction: If you double-click or merely click twice on the directory that contains the files to import, DI errors and no files are imported. If this occurs you may have to exit the DI interface and execute DI again.
- Click Create and enter a container object name; enter an object that is based on the Group object.
- Map the filename extension to the Contenta object into which it should be imported as follows:
Map the book file to the FmBook object.
Map the files with the .fm filename extension to the FmDoc object.
Map the graphics to the custom graphic-based objects, see the topic Custom Object Creation
Example:
- Click the Global button in the File Import interface and enter the appropriate parameters for connectivity to the server and database.
You can change the data in the DocType field to define specific data for the object’s Document Type property sheet field—the default DocType value is document.Note: As necessary, see the SDL Contenta Dynamic Import User section of the Contenta documentation for information about the File Import Global fields.
- Click the OK to close the Global definition interface.
- Click Import to import the files into Contenta.
- After importing, create a Group object named Graphics as a sibling container to the container with the FrameMaker book and .fm files, then move the graphics into the Graphics container.
