Introduction and Overview
SDL Contenta is a content management application that enables you to manage the writing, editing, and assembly of XML, SGML, and non-structured data from content creation to delivery. SDL Contenta manages, tracks, and stores documents in a relational database.
You use SDL Contenta to divide large amounts of information into manageable segments of data, then you organize the data segments into your publications. You can reuse the data segments in different publications. SDL Contenta keeps track of the data and through its interface, you can keep track of where all information is located and in what publications data is reused. SDL Contenta allows you to track the work-in-progress in an electronic workflow and to update modified data appearing in multiple publications or documents simultaneously.
This introduction and overview contains information about the SDL Contenta configuration, terminology, the sample api database, the SDL Contenta Web and a quick start.
Note that this introduction and overview does not contain everything you need to know about SDL Contenta to successfully develop SDL Contenta tools or applications. You must have a solid understanding of the SDL Contenta Explorer and SDL Contenta Administration applications.
