Local and Global Notes

The Key column under the notes tab contains a letter prefix indicating the type of note, and a number indicating the order in which the note was received.

There are two keys indicating the types of Contenta notes as described in the following table.

KeyDescription
G

Global note

A global note attached to a Contenta object appears on every occurrence (all linked copies) of the object in the database.

For example, a note attached to an object which contains copyright information used in seven different documents, appears under the Notes tab for the object in each of the seven documents.

Note: When a global note is added to an object in a ContentRoutingProject or standard Project, it is considered an edit and appears on other linked objects only after the ContentRoutingProject or Project is posted. If the global note is added to an object outside the ContentRoutingProject or

Project it automatically appears on all linked copies of the object.

L

Local note

A local note attached to a Contenta object appears only on the one instance (or copy) of the object to which it was attached.

For example, a local note does not appear on the object if that object is in a different document or a different ContentRoutingProject or standard Project.
