Managing objects
This chapter describes actions that you perform on objects.
- Creating an object
This task explains how to create a new Contenta object. - Object containment rules
This topic describes rules that enforce the structure of the object hierarchy. - Changing an object from read-write to read-only
This task explains how to toggle an object to a read-only state. - Moving an object to a different container
This topic describes how to relocate an object from one container to another container. - Copying an object
This topic explains how to copy an object. - Reusing an object
This task explains how to reuse an object in different containers. - Reusing a read-only copy of an object
This topic explains how to reuse a copy of an object in another container for reference, not modification. - Locating reused copies of a selected object
This topic explains how to locate reused copies of an object in your configuration. - Converting a referenced (linked) object to an independent object
This topic explains how to convert a referenced (linked) object to an independent object. - Obtaining the latest copy of an object
This task describes how to get the latest copy of an out-of-date object in a ContentRoutingProject or a standard Project. - Deleting an object
This task explains how to delete an object from either tree or list view in Contenta Web. Use Delete to remove objects from containers where you no longer want them to appear. - Object properties
This topic describes object metadata, or information that is stored in an object's property sheet. - Modifying the properties of an object
This task describes how to modify the metadata associated with a Contenta object. - Modifying the attributes of an object
This task describes how to add (or delete) attributes associated with a Contenta object. - Reordering objects within a container object
This task explains how to reorder objects within a container object in the tree view. - Working with columns in list view
List view displays objects and children of container objects, each on its own row. You can specify column order, column visibility, column width, and object order within a column. - Notes
This topic introduces you to the different types of notes used in Contenta. - Creating an object note
This task explains how to create or delete object notes. - Creating a user note
You can create a user note, which is a message that you send to another user's desktop. A user note is time-stamped and read-only; only the recipient and the SysAdmin can read the note. - Creating a checkpoint
This task explains how to create a checkpoint on an object. You use a checkpoint if you need to roll-back to a previous version of the object. Contenta also generates checkpoints automatically each time you modify an an object.
