Prompt for New Object Naming

Use this option to activate or deactivate new object naming. When activated (turned on), you are prompted to name new objects when Scan for New Objects is selected.

When prompted, the naming method established in AppData is applied and you are prompted for an Object Name Verification; you are prompted to accept the default or to change the name.

  • To rename the object, delete the name inside the New Object Name field and enter a new name, and then click OK.
  • To accept the default name shown in the New Object Name field, click OK.
  • Click Cancel if you want to cancel the naming operation. If you try to save, you are again prompted for the object name. You cannot save until you name the element-mapped object. If you do not want to save any changes you made, exit the application.
If you do not want to be prompted for object names, turn off the Prompt for new object naming—that is, remove the check mark from the box next to Prompt for new object naming as shown above. If you are not prompted, the application automatically names the object using the information from in the DIMAP value for the Document Type.

If the new element-mapped object contains other element-mapped objects, you are prompted for an Object Name Verification for those objects also at this time.

If you specify or accept names for some of the objects then Cancel for a subsequent element-mapped object, the previously named object information is stored and next time you Scan for New Objects or Save, only the objects you did not name are presented again in a Object Name Verification window.
