Setting up LDAP for Contenta
Contenta supports authentication of users against a Contenta database or against one or more Lightweight Directory Access Protocol servers (LDAP servers for short).
If you authenticate using LDAP, there is a method to identify a user as a Contenta user and provide a way to allow different login names for LDAP and Contenta.
A typical LDAP server you can use is Microsoft’s Active Directory. If you do, note that Contenta assumes the following to be true:
- Contenta Server or Admin processes act as a system or a user account on a network
- Contenta Server or Admin processes are already authenticated
- Contenta Server or Admin processes can already perform searches in LDAP
