The Configuration Object
You can have more than one configuration object in your hierarchy.
If you have more than one configuration object in your hierarchy, you cannot create linked copies of objects across configurations. Configurations can share only Paste Reference copies of an object. This means that although you can select the Reuse option for an object within a configuration and then use Paste to copy it into a hierarchy in a different configuration, the object is not linked to the original. The pasted object maintains the original name but is not associated with the original object.
If you want to have an object in multiple configurations and have them linked—that is, you want the copies to reflect edits and changes to the original—use the Paste Reference option. Using this option, only the original object is modifiable. However, any edits to the original object appear in the Paste Reference copies in other configurations. You can use this option for content like Warnings or Legal Notices that you want to appear in multiple documents across configurations, but do not want users to edit.
