Assigning the Creation Tool permissions

Perform these steps to assign the Creation Tool to Users/Tool Boxes.

  1. In pcmadmin, display roles and toolboxes—select: Edit > Roles/Tool Boxes.
  2. Select and open the Role (Tool Box) to which you want to assign permission to create the new Object Type—select Role then click Open or double-click on the Role.

A Define Tool Box for Role... window appears.

  3. Access the drop-down list for the Select Object field.
  4. Select one of the parent objects—these are the objects you added to the Can be Created by list when you created the new, custom Object Type.

A new Creation Tool for the object was added to the Available Tools list.

  5. Select the Creation Tool for the new object then click Add>>. The creation tool moves to the Selected Tools list.

This gives permission to create the new object under the parent object (displayed in the Select Object field) to users assigned to the selected Role.

Note that the SysAdmin role was selected so moving the New CookBookDocs creation tool to the Selected Tools list allows the sysadmin user to create a CookBookDocs Object under a Document object.

    .
  6. Continue to select parent objects and assign the Creation Tool Permission for the User/Role. Do this for all User/Roles that you want to grant permission to create each object.

You have finished defining a new Object Type. Verify that the new Object Type has been created and customized as desired. For more information about testing the Object Type, see the Testing a New or Changed Object Type in this documentation.
