Configuring the Oracle ODBC Data Source for Windows 32-bit

If installing on a 32-bit Administration client and using an Oracle database for Contenta data, before installing the Contenta software, configure the Oracle ODBC Data Source.

Procedure

  1. Make sure that the Firewall is turned off or that the Oracle port is open.
  2. In the Windows Control Panel click Administrative Tools > Data Sources.
  3. On the System DSN tab, click Add.
  4. In the Create New Data Source window, click the Oracle ODBC driver (OraClient11g_home1).
  5. Click Finish.
    The ODBC Driver Configuration window opens.
  6. Enter the Data Source Name and a description.
  7. Enter the TNS Service Name.
  8. On the Oracle tab at the bottom of the window, uncheck Enable LOBs.
  9. Click Test Connection.

    Log in as xyadmin, or ask your Oracle DBA for a user name and password to test the connection. The default password for xyadmin is manager, however, if the default password does not work, it may have been changed by your DBA for security purposes.

  10. After a successful connection, click OK .
  11. In the ODBC Data Source Administrator window, click OK.
