Creating a Role or Tool Box
Perform these steps to add a role/tool box to the Contenta database.
Procedure
- Start the Contenta Administration tool, pcmadmin, in singleuser mode (see Executing the Administration Tool).
- Access the Roles/Tool Boxes list in the Contenta Administration Tool window, click New to access the Define a Role/Tool Box window.
- Enter the new Role/Tool Box name.
If you want to use an existing tool box as a template, select from the list of the available template tool boxes by clicking on the button located to the right of the field.
- Click Create. The Roles/Tool Boxes list is updated.
The Define Tool Box for Role window appears. Use this window to assign tools to objects for the new tool box. If you are defining a role, but are not creating a tool box for it at this time, click Close, otherwise proceed to the next step.
- The following table describes the fields in the Define Tool Box for Role window:
Field Description Select Object The object to which you are assigning tools for the new role. To choose from the list of available objects, click on the menu button to the right of the field. Assign tools for each object. Available Tools List The name and type of the tools defined for the selected object. Selected Tools List The name and type of the tools assigned to the object for this role/tool box. Complete the fields in the Define Tool Box for Role window as follows:
- In the Select Object field, specify an object type to which you want to assign tools.
- To add a tool to the tool box select an entry in the Available Tools list then click Add or double-click on an entry in the Available Tools list.
- To remove a tool from the tool box select an entry in the Selected Tools list, and then click Remove or double-click on an entry in the Selected Tools list.
Note: Do not assign the Modify Properties tool to a user desktop. With this tool, users could assign themselves the sysadmin role which could result in a problem with security.To associate additional tools and objects for this tool box, repeat this step for each additional tool.
- To save the Selected Tools list for the object named in the Select Object field, click Apply.
- To save your tool box and exit the Define Tool Box For Role window, click Close.
