Creating Objects in Contenta Explorer Application

The Contenta database contains a hierarchical structure of Objects.

The top level is the sysadmin Desktop. You can import structured documents (XML or SGML) into the Contenta database using Dynamic Import (see the SDL Contenta Dynamic Import User section of this documentation for more information) or you can create the hierarchy and populate the Containers with data Objects if you have the appropriate permissions to do so (that is, create and populate Objects).

The Contenta System Administrator (sysadmin user) is the only user who can create the top level Configuration Object (the Object typically used as the top level parent Object for all data in the database), User Desktops, and Workpools.

  • There is one sysadmin user per Contenta database.
  • The sysadmin desktop is the top level of the Object hierarchy in Contenta Explorer.
  • The Configuration, User Desktops, and Workpool Objects reside on the sysadmin Desktop.
  • The sysadmin is the only User that has access to the sysadmin Desktop in Contenta Explorer or Contenta Web.

The sysadmin User must create the top level Objects in the database to establish the hierarchical structure for the data Objects.
