Displaying default user names in Contenta login screens

By default, the username is stored for later retrieval and display in the login screen in bothContenta Explorer and Contenta Web. If you would prefer the additional security of not displaying default usernames in Contenta login screens and instead requiring users to entertheir login name each time, add the EnableDefaultUserName AppData setting and set itto no as follows:

Procedure

  1. In Contenta Explorer, open AppData: click Tools > Options > Tool Preferences.
  2. Navigate to Global > Settings and click the Display key.
  3. Click Insert Value.
  4. In the Value Name field, enter EnableDefaultUserName.
  5. In the Value Data field, enter no.

Results

Contenta Explorer users
If you add the EnableDefaultUserName AppData setting, you must also remove two keys from the Windows registry:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/XyEnterprise/Content@/Settings/Startup/Username
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/XyEnterprise/Content@/Settings/Startup/Username
Contenta Web users

If you add the EnableDefaultUserName AppData setting, you must also delete browser cookies via browser options. For example, in Internet Explorer, you would select Tools > Options > Delete > Cookies.
