Displaying locked objects

To identify objects with locks, use the Customize List View option on the View menu.

Displaying locked objects in the Contenta object display area

To display locked objects, use the Customize List View option on the View menu. The following table describes fields displayed in the Contenta Explorer object display area.
FieldDescription
Owner lockDisplays user locks on objects in the selected container. The user who owns the lock is shown in the object display area in the Owner lock column.
Project lockDisplays project locks on objects in the selected container. The ContentRoutingProject or standard Project which contains the object is noted in the object display area in the under the Project lock column. Only objects on a Post List can have project locks. Objects on a Post List include objects created in the ContentRoutingProject or standard Project and objects that have been edited in a ContentRoutingProject or Project, but not yet been posted.
An alternate method for viewing objects with project locks within the ContentRoutingProject or Project container is to display the ContentRoutingProject’s or Project’s Post List. You candisplay the Post List only when a ContentRoutingProject or Project object is selected; the Post List is not a property of any other container object. To view the Post List, select the ContentRoutingProject or Project and click the Post List tab at the bottom of the Contenta Explorer window. The Post List tab is active only for ProjMan and sysadmin users. The Post List tab is dimmed for other users.
The following table describes fields you can display to view information about a lock.
FieldDescription
Edit lockDisplays objects that are locked because they are currently opened for modification
Lock session idOptionally displays the lock identifier number
Lock typeDisplays the type of lock on the object

Post List and posting

The Post List is a list of Contenta objects in a ContentRoutingProject or standard Project that have been modified and not yet posted to the database. Posting to the database updates all linked copies of the object with the modifications and removes the project locks from the objects. To view the Post List, perform the following steps.
  1. Click a ContentRoutingProject or standard Project object.
  2. Click the Post List tab at the bottom of the Contenta Explorer window.
The following table describes columns displayed on the Post List.
ColumnDescription
StateGraphic representation if the object is marked for posting.

The pushpin graphic denotes that the object is marked for posting. If the object is removed from the Post List, the pushpin graphic is removed.

NameName of the object to be posted
TypeObject type
Parent NameParent container object’s name
ObjectIdObject id of the object to be posted, that is, the object named in the Name column
Parent IdsParent container object id, that is, the object named in the Parent Name column
Post List options are executed with the buttons to the right of the Post List window. The buttons allow you to Remove, Mark or Unmark selected objects for posting or to Post the marked objects in the Post List. The following table describes the Post List options.
ButtonFunction
RemoveRemoves the object from the Post List

The project lock is removed and modifications to the object are discarded. Use this option if you want to permanently remove an object from the Post List.

MarkMarks the object for posting

If an object is marked for posting, linked copies of the objects in the Post List are updated with modifications when the ContentRoutingProject or standard Project is posted. Use this option if you want to mark an object for posting that has been unmarked.

Marked objects are identified by a pushpin icon to the left of the object name and Yes in the Marked for Post column.

UnmarkTemporarily removes the object from the Post List.

If an object is not marked for posting, linked copies of the objects in the Post List are not updated with modifications when the ContentRoutingProject or standard Project is posted.

This option removes the pushpin icon from the object but does not remove the object from the Post List. Objects not marked for posting are identified with No in the Marked for Post column. You can add the object to the Post List again with the Mark option.
Post Updates the linked copies of marked objects in the Post List with all modifications made during the Workflow.

Use this when you want to update your database and remove project locks.
