Login options

You can use the login options to override the default Contenta Explorer settings established during installation. You can define options for a single session or define new values to be used as defaults.

When you execute the Contenta Explorer, the login window appears.

Click the Options button in the lower right of the login window to access the Contenta Explorer Login Options window.

The table below contains information about the fields in the Contenta Explorer Login Options window.

Enter the name of the database that you want to access. Include the DSN (ODB Data Service Name) in the format:
dbname@DSN
Contenta ServerRequired.

Enter the name of the Contenta database server.

Socket NumberRequired.

Enter the socket number of the portal running on the database server.

Home Location

Enter a starting location for the initial Contenta Explorer navigation view in the form of object - blob path. The object specified must be a container object.

For example:

WeeklyPubs - /#1/#2/#131/#132

If a Home Location is specified, when the Contenta Explorer is displayed, the hierarchy is traversed and opened to the specified container and the container is selected.

Do not specify a data object in the Home Location field or an error will occur when you execute Contenta Explorer. Click the OK button to continue if an error occurs; Contenta Explorer displays but the object specified in for home location is not selected.

Default: The user’s desktop

Encaps Directory

Enter the directory where your Contenta application interface tools reside.

The standard location is the Contenta /encaps directory. For example:

Default: If no path is specified, the default is (Contenta checks in the order shown below): HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > XyEnterprise > Contenta > Settings(in the value)ENCAPS

Current directory (directory from which the application is executed) > encaps

Temp DirectoryEnter a directory for Contenta Explorer to write temporary files. The standard location is:Contenta home directory > temp

Default: If no path is specified, the default is (Contenta checks in the order shown below): HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > XyEnterprise > Contenta > Settings (in the value)TEMP

View Debug File

Check this box to view the log file from the Contenta Explorer Info window.

The logfile contains information about communications with the Contenta database that may be helpful when troubleshooting. It is updated during the Contenta Explorer session. The logfile is always created.

Log File

Enter the path to the logfile where Contenta records information about communications with the Contenta database that may be helpful when troubleshooting.

The default location is the logs directory under the Contenta home directory.

If you specify a directory path, it must be an existing directory or you be unable to start the Contenta Explorer.

Default: If no path is specified, the default is the current directory (directory from which the application is executed) /pe.log

Save as Default Login Options

Check this box to save the specified options for the next login session.

If not checked, the specified options are in effect only for the current session. The default options are the options saved last.

When you select Save as Default Login Options, the information is written into the registry under the following path.
