MIME Type

The object’s mime type is stored in the MIME Type property sheet field.

The data in the object’s MIME Type field is matched to a mimetypeMapping specified in Contenta in your Tool Preferences and a filename extension is placed on the file when it is opened for editing. The application associated with the filename extension is executed and the data is imported for modifications.

To view the mimetypeMappings stored in Tool Preferences, select:

Tools > Options > Tool Preferences

In the left pane of the window, open:

Global > mimeTypeMappings

Match the Mime Type data in the object’s property sheet field to a Name in the mimetypeMappings (in the right pane of the window) — note the Value; this is the filename extension that is appended to the file when the object is opened for editing. The editor associated with the filename extension in the Windows Explorer File Types is the editor executed to open the object in Contenta when you select the View or Edit tools on the object.
