Objects
The Contenta database contains Contenta Objects. Contenta Explorer displays these Objects in a hierarchical organization, which users can navigate through to access the information in the database.
| Characteristic | Description |
|---|---|
| Class Type | All Contenta Objects are based on a Class Type. The Contenta Class Type categories are:
|
| Property Sheet | A Contenta Object has a Property Sheet that contains additional information (metadata) about the Object. When creating a custom Object, you define the fields and field types and decide which fields can be displayed and modified in the Contenta application. All Property Sheets must contain the Name and Access Level fields. |
| Icon | All Contenta Objects are represented as icons in Contenta Explorer. SDL delivers bitmap and icon files that represent the standard Contenta Objects and Workflow Tasks. You can create icons to represent your customized Object Types and Workflow Tasks. |
| Tools | All Contenta, Objects have a set of tools (Object Tools) that determine the functions a user can perform on an Object. In addition to Object Tools, there are Universal Tools that are not assigned to Objects, and support tools that are not accessed in the application but instead are used by other tools. |
| Tool Boxes | A Tool box is a collection of Object tools that are available to a user. You create and assign Tool Boxes to grant or restrict user access to the Object Tools. Tool Boxes may be assigned to users based on their Role assignment. When the user is performing a task in a specific Role, the tools in their role Tool Box are available to him or her. SDL delivers several standard Tool Boxes that you can assign or modify for your users’ needs, or you can create your own Tool Boxes. |
