Performing a Custom installation
Complete these steps to perform a Custom installation.
Procedure
- Log in to the client workstation as the Administrator user or a user with administrator privileges.
- Mount the installation ISO by using Windows to extract the ISO to the file system or use a third-party tool to mount the ISO as a disk.
- Launch the installer executable file (setup.exe).
The installation program begins, displaying a page with general information about the installation. If you are upgrading from a previous version of Contenta, the system displays a message indicating the currently installed version and prompting you to confirm you want to continue.
- Click Next to continue.
The installation program displays the License Agreement window, displaying details of the software license agreement. This window contains a Print button you can use to print the agreement, and Yes and No buttons you can use to accept or reject the terms of the license agreement.
- Select Yes to accept the license agreement.
Note: If you do not accept the license agreement, you cannot install the software.
- If this is an upgrade or reinstall, the software will be installed to the same location as the existing version and the system displays the Web Server Information window. Skip the following step.
- If this is a new installation, the installer program displays the Choose Destination Location window allowing you to specify the location to which the software will be installed.
- In the Choose Destination Location window, the Destination Folder field displays the default installation path, C:\Program Files (x86)\XyEnterprise\Contenta.
You can accept this default or specify a different location by browsing to it using the Browse button. You can restore the default path at any time by clicking Back and returning to the previous step.
Note: If you are installing Contenta Explorer on a system with Contenta Server, install it into the same directory.When the desired path has been entered, click Next to continue. The installer program displays the Setup Type window.
- Click Custom, then Next.
The installation program displays the Select Features window.
- Check the components you want to install, and then click Next.
Accept all the default selections to install a full administration workstation.
Note: SDL recommends that you uncheck components that you did not purchase or do not plan to use. Installing unused components increases disk space usage and may affect application performance. Although the Contenta installation program lets you install software for purchasable features, it is the Contenta license that controls access to those functions.The installation program displays the Contenta Database Settings window.
- Click the type of database (and version) installed for Contenta then click Next.
The installation program displays the Contenta Server Settings window.
- Enter the following information in the Contenta Server Settings fields.
Field Enter Server Name Name or IP address of the Contenta Server. This is the server where the Contenta Server software is installed.
Note: This is not the Oracle server.Server Socket Number for PcmPortal on the Contenta Server. The default is 6050. Accept the default unless you changed it during the server installation.
When you have entered the Contenta Server Name and Server Socket, click Next to continue. The installation program displays the Oracle Home Directory window. - Browse to the database home directory on the workstation, then click OK.
- Click Next.
The installation program displays the Contenta Server Settings window.
- In the Path field, enter the file path to the Oracle home directory.
You can type the path into the field or browse to the Oracle home directory in the Directories window. As you browse, the installation program enters the path in the Path field. When you have entered the path, click Next to continueThe installation program displays the Contenta Database Information window.
- See the topic with the information you completed for Installation Information Prompts, Required Information and enter the following database information.
Field Enter: Database Name Name of the Contenta database. ODBC DSN Data Source Name as specified for Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server. Oracle SID Applies only to Oracle databases.
Name of the Contenta Oracle instance or service (SID).
- Click Next.
The information is saved in the environment variable sdlxysoft_LICENSE in the format, <port>@<server>, for example:
sdlxysoft_LICENSE=5053@sdlroseThe Contenta installation program continues with the installation. It may take several minutes before you see a response from the system.
- When prompted at the end of the installation, reboot your system.
