Revision control

A Project allows you to isolate data that is undergoing revision. The data to be revised is linked into a Project object and can be revised without affecting the data that was last approved for publication. Thus, chapters and sections in a manual can undergo changes while the original manual remains unaffected and available to be published on demand.

Changes made to data in a Project do not affect the stable data until the revisions are approved and are posted to the parent Project or configuration. When all work in a Project is complete and has been approved, the Project Manager posts the data. Posting updates all copies of the data in all manuals in the Contenta database. This ensures that data that appears in more than one place and/or more than one manual is consistent and kept up-todate.
