System administrator
This topic describes the role of an SDL Contenta system administrator.
The Contenta System Administrator has a special role and desktop which is the top level container for everything in the Contenta database. The desktop and role are named sysadmin. The sysadmin has access to all tools and can undertake any role or task and perform any activity possible in the Contenta application.
- create Desktop objects, allowing user access to the Contenta application and a specified database
- assign Roles to users, thereby controlling if and how users can manipulate the data in the database
- create Workpool objects and assign users to the workpools
- place objects, or a hierarchy of objects, on users’ desktops, thereby allowing and controlling user access to objects and data in the database
In addition, the sysadmin has access to the Contenta administration software and can:
- add tools to objects
- restrict or allow access to tools
- create customized objects
- create or modify an object’s property sheet
- change the object containment rules
The sysadmin is the only user who has total control over the application and database, and control over which users have access to the application, to what they have access, and how they can affect the data in the database.
