Tasks and workflow

The Workflow defines the order of the tasks required to complete the work in the ContentRoutingProject and the users responsible for completing each tasks.

When the Project Manager creates a ContentRoutingProject, he or she establishes the project workflow by identifying the following:
  • Project team members—users assigned to work on the data in the project
  • Team members’ roles
  • Sequence in which the team members are to perform their tasks

Team members perform tasks in sequence. After completing a task, the user forwards one or more of the objects in the ContentRoutingProject to the next user and task in the workflow. Forwarding transfers ownership of the task to the recipient. The ContentRoutingProject is placed on the recipient’s desktop along with the forwarded objects. The recipient performs the tasks assigned to him or her in the workflow then forwards the ContentRoutingProject's child object(s) to the next task. This continues until all tasks in the workflow are complete.

When all tasks are complete and the revisions are approved, the Project Manager posts the revised data to the configuration. The configuration is a hierarchy of Contenta objects that contains all of the data in your database and your manuals. Posting lets you update your manuals with revised data and ensures that the data is consistent and current in all manuals in which it appears.

Highlight the ContentRoutingProject object then click the Workflow tab in the Information Display Area to view its workflow. The workflow for a ContentRoutingProject provides a graphical representation of the tasks in the workflow. The current task (Routing Task) status is available on individual objects in the ContentRoutingProject.
