The data hierarchy

Under the Xybooks, Inc. Configuration object are three Group container objects named Stable Data, Publications, and WIP.

The following sections describe the objects in the hierarchy of each of these Group objects.

Stable Data hierarchy

The Stable Data Group object contains Document container objects. The data objects in this hierarchy may be considered the master data objects that are copied into the Publications and Projects when needed.

Publications hierarchy

The Publications Group object contains a hierarchy of objects arranged or ready for publication.

WIP hierarchy

The WIP (Work in Progress) Group object contains Project objects. This container makes it convenient to find and track the Projects while they are in a workflow. This container can be used for testing projects, workflows, triggers, and workflow.

All new projects are in the Start task of the workflow. The workflow assigned to a project is selected by the project creator. The only workflow in the apiguide database is the one delivered in the metadata, and is available when you create a database; it contains the Start, Writing, Reviewing, and End tasks only.

Note that the Writing-Reviewing task routes go in both directions; the writer can forward the project to the Reviewer and the Reviewer can send it back to the Writer or send it to the End task.

You can create custom workflow templates and/or you can customize workflows in Contenta Explorer. Refer to the Contenta Administration User Guide for information about creating workflow templates and modifying the workflow.
