The EntIdMap File

The FrameBookCheckout tool automatically creates an EntIdMap file as part of the checkout process and stores it in the Contenta checkout directory along with the files exported for editing. See the FrameBook Checkout Tool topic.

The EntIdMap file acts as a metadata file for the FrameMaker book—it contains:

  • When a FmBook object is checked-out: The hierarchy of the book and the chapter files as it is in Contenta, listing its parent-child relationship and order of the chapters.
  • The relationship of the graphic files to the FrameMaker .fm (chapter) files.
  • The editing state of the files in the checkout directory.

If changes are detected, the editing state for the file is changed to YES in the EntIdMap file. If new chapter and/or graphic files were added in the editing session these are also noted in the EntIdMap file.

The check-in process checks the EntIdMap file for changes, additions, and/or deletions to determine the files that must be checked-in (imported) and the objects that must be created for new data (FrameMaker chapter, or graphic data). See the FrameBook Checkin Tool topic.
