Contenta Web runs on IIS with Tomcat (on Windows) or Apache with Tomcat Server (on Linux) software.
If you have not already installed and configured your web server software, you must do it before installing the Contenta Web software.
Note: Refer to the vendor’s installation documentation to install third party software packages.
The appropriate vendor documentation provides complete descriptions of web server software installation and configuration. In addition, refer to the
SDL Contenta Pre-Installation Notes for Contenta Web section of this documentation for additional information about configuring third party products with Contenta Web. If upgrading to SDL Contenta Web 5.6 on Windows, refer to the 5.6
SDL Contenta Release Notes topics for important pre-upgrade steps for setting up Perl.
Note: If installing web server software, refer to the documentation from the third party vendor as noted in the SDL Contenta Pre-Installation Notes for Contenta Web before beginning this installation.
Note: Installing the Web Server should be done by a System (MIS/IT) Administrator. This document does not contain step-by-step instructions for the installation or configuration of Jakarta Tomcat, Apache, IIS, or other third-party web software packages. A System Administrator with knowledge of web server installations and these third-party products will ensure a successful installation.
Note: To configure your system for use in a Citrix environment, refer to the three files in the Contenta_home/distr/citrix directory on your server. The CitrixX11Startup.pdf is titled “Configuring Citrix server to run XPP/Contenta via a Citrix client using published applications” and it contains instructions about running XPP/Contenta on a Citrix client workstation.
