Tool Box Classifications
There are four classifications of tool boxes:
| Tool Box Type | Description |
|---|---|
| BASE_TOOLS | The base set of tools for an object that are available to all users in all locations in the Contenta hierarchy. When assigning tools to the Base Tools box, you must assign the tools for each object. Use caution when adding tools that allow modification to BASE_TOOLS. |
| Role | Tools that are available to a user when they are working in a project that has been forwarded to their desktop. The role associated with the current task is the tool box that is available to the user. When assigning tools to a Role tool box, you must assign the tools for each object. Three role toolboxes are delivered with the Contenta software: ProjMan, writer, and reviewer. You can create new role toolboxes when you create new roles. See Creating a Role or Tool Box. |
| User | Tools that are available to a user when the desktop object is selected. These tools are available outside the project and do not correspond to a user’s assigned role. The user tool box is assigned to a user’s desktop. Two desktop toolboxes are delivered with the Contenta software: sysadmin and ProjMan. |
| Universal | Tools that are available to all users in all locations of the database at all times. Universal tools are not associated with objects. |
You use the Contenta Administration Tool (pcmadmin) to create roles and tool boxes. You determine which tools the tool box contains on an object-by-object basis.
