Troubleshooting Oracle patch set installation

If, after following the instructions in the Oracle README.html to install patches, you cannot start the listener or you cannot shut down or start up the database, a number of troubleshooting steps can help you get the listener and database up and running.

Procedure

  1. Run the Oracle Net Manager.
  2. Select the listener.
  3. Select the listening locations.
  4. Select Database services.
  5. Add the Database service which you are upgrading.
  6. Save your changes.
  7. Restart the listener and database.
  8. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, run the Oracle Net Manager again.
  9. Select the listener.
  10. Select the listening locations.
  11. Remove the IPC address.
  12. Save your changes.
  13. Restart the listener and database.
