User Desktops

This chapter describes how to create and define user desktops and workpools in Contenta Explorer.

Desktops provides users with access to the Contenta Explorer application and the data stored in the Contenta database. If a user does not have a desktop, he or she cannot log in to the Contenta application.

To add a user, log in to the Contenta database, you create a desktop for the user in the Contenta Explorer application. User desktops are located on the sysadmin desktop; they are created and maintained by the sysadmin user.

There a two types of user desktops:

  • ProjMan

    Create a ProjMan desktop for Project Managers.

    These are users who are responsible for initiating, managing, and tracking projects.

    Project Managers have access to special tools such as the post list and the project workflow editor.

  • Default

    Create a Default desktop for all other user such as writers and reviewers who do not need special project tools.
