Workflow templates

The Contenta System Administrator creates workflow templates that define the tasks, task routes, and task-roles assignments for the common flow of work for various projects.

For example, you could establish one workflow template for updating a document set and another template for generating a quarterly newsletter.

When creating a project, the project manager applies the appropriate workflow template and adjusts it to reflect the specific project needs. You may have roles assigned to tasks in the workflow template but may not have the user-role assignments defined. So when the workflow template is assigned to a project, the project creator can assign the specific users to the tasks.

A workflow template can also include workflow triggers, actions that occur on the Contenta Server when a user forwards a project to a specific task. For example, a trigger can create a checkpoint, delete, or post a project, or run a server-based application interface. You configure triggers in the workflow task route.
