Configuring SDL Contenta S1000D Web Clients to Run Arbortext Editor

This task explains how to configure Contenta Web Windows clients that will be editing SDL Contenta S1000D objects in Arbortext Editor. You do not need to perform this task on Contenta Explorer clients.

About this task

You may opt to configure one client and create a response file that can be used to perform silent upgrades on identically configured Contenta Web clients. See Installing SDL Contenta S1000D on Contenta Explorer Clients - Silent Mode.

Procedure

  1. Install Arbortext Editor on the Contenta Web client machine.
  2. Install the SDL Contenta Editor Extensions:
    1. On your browser client workstation, log in to Contenta Web.
    2. Click Help > SDL Contenta Editor Extensions.
    3. Click Download the Contenta Editor Extensions Install program for Windows.
    4. Double-click the install.exe file that is downloaded. The Editor Extensions installation wizard appears.
    5. Follow the installation wizard instructions.
    6. When the installation is complete, click Done.
  3. Install the Contenta S1000D Arbortext Editor plug-in:
    1. Mount the SDL Contenta S1000D installation ISO file, and open the editorplugin folder.
    2. Double-click the install.exe file.
    3. When asked if you want install and configure styles and schemas for Arbortext Editor, either click Yes, let the installer copy files and configure my system (recommended), or click No, I will manually copy and configure my system later.
      If you answered No, see Adding S1000D Schemas and Styles to Arbortext Editor when you are ready to manually configure styles and schemas.
    4. In the Choose Web Server Name/Port dialog, enter information about the Web Server in the following fields.

      Web Server ProtocolSpecify http or https.
      Web Server NameSpecify the name of the Web Server.
      Web Server Port NumberSpecify the port number of the Web Server.
  4. When you have finished installing the editor extensions, restart the system.
  5. Define your checkout directory:
    1. On your browser client workstation, log in to Contenta Web.
    2. Click Preferences.
    3. Enter a valid path on your local machine in the Checkout Directory field.
    4. Click OK.
