Working with reusable components in Arbortext Editor

SDL Contenta S1000D includes "Author Assist" capabilities, which can aid you with quickly locating reusable components, such as warnings, cautions, spares, support equipment, and supplies in a repository, and then reusing them in the Data Module (DM) that you are currently editing.

Overview

Contenta S1000D enables writers to quickly complete the "Preliminary Requirements" section of a DM by providing ways to:

  • Populate repositories of reusable components (create once, reuse many times)
  • Search for these items (provide ways to filter potentially large lists of items)
  • Select the desired item and insert the correct S1000D markup into the data module being edited

S1000D Issues

Contenta S1000D works in conjunction with Arbortext Editor. Use the Contenta > Insert Reusable Component... command to reuse warnings, cautions, spares, support equipment, and supplies in a DM. The procedure you use depends on the version of the S1000D issue, which may be:
  • 2.3/3.0
  • 4.0
  • 4.1 (or later)
Consult the appropriate procedure for the S1000D Issue you are using.
