Adding a Redirect Page

A Redirect Page redirects a web site visitor from the Page they entered to a different Web page (an internal or external URL).

About this task

A Redirect Page uses the Redirect Page Template and has the Redirect Page Metadata Schema set.

Procedure

  1. Open your Web site in Experience Manager.
  2. In the Home tab of the Ribbon, click New Page.
  3. From the library pane, select Redirect Page.
  4. Specify the following properties:
Create the redirect page with location and filename to match the short URL you want to use. For example, to create a redirect from the URL /products/CampaignX, create a Page in the products section of the Web site using the filename CampaignX
    • Page Title—enter the internal name of the Page
    • File Name—enter the name of the Page as it appears in the browser address bar
    • Page Location—accept the default, or click Change and select the section of the Web site you want the Page to appear in.
  5. Click Create Page.
  6. Click the Properties icon in the top right corner of the Page, and in the Metadata section click Edit.
  7. Specify an External or Internal link for the redirect (the Link Text and Alternate Text fields are not used, but you can put some explanation for other Editors if you want to).
  8. Publish the Redirect Page to a Web site where you want the redirect to be active.
