Modifying notification bars
You can include a notification bar in the Header page to notify the user about something. The notification bar is an overlay on the Web site that appears on every Page.
About this task
A Cookie notification and an Old Browser notification are available by default. The Cookie notification always appears, and the Old Browser notification will only appear when the browser version is earlier than Internet Explorer 8.
When the visitor clicks Continue on a notification bar, a cookie is set and the bar is not displayed again for the duration of the browser session.
Procedure
- Update the notification bars:
- In Content Explorer, go to the _Structure content Folder to edit the Cookie and Old Browser notification bars. Alternatively, you can edit the Cookie notification bar in Experience Manager but not the Old Browser notification because Experience Manager is not supported on Internet Explorer 7 (or below) and so will never be displayed.
- Republish the Header page when you make changes.
- Remove the Cookie and/or Old Browser notification bars:
- In Experience Manager, open the Header Page (located in Content Explorer in the Home\_System\include Folder).
- In the Component Presentations tab, remove these Component Presentations.
- Republish the Page.
- Create a new notification bar:
