Using Search module
The Search module introduces a site search functionality.
After the installation, new Component Templates, schemas, and default configuration setting are created. The installation script updates the Default Page Template Finish Actions TBB to add the Enable Search Indexing TBB. The script also creates a Search Results page in the root structure group of the example site. It updates the Header include page in the example site and adds a component presentation to display the Search box.
For the module to work properly with SDL Tridion, you must update the Building Blocks/Settings/Search/Site Manager/Search Configuration component with new URLs for your staging and live Solr or AWS CloudSearch search endpoints:
In DXA 1.3 when working with SDL Web 8, you should specifically add a Search query URL to the Topology Manager for your chosen CD Environment. See Configure Search Index URL in Topology Manager (SDL Web 8).
If you are using Tridion 2013 SP1 or earlier, in your Publication Target, check the Enable for inline editing box to indicate that your site is staging and not live.
If you are using SDL Web 8, and you have no Publication Targets, DXA will use Discovery Service to determine if the Preview Service Capability is present (staging) or not (live).
Finally, publish the Search Results page, republish the _System/Include/Header include page, and republish the Example Site to make sure all your content is indexed.
To prevent part of your content from being indexed, you must use the Search Indexing Metadata schema for a particular Page of Structure Group, and check the Suppress Content From Search Index checkbox.
