Step 3: Obtain the ETS license(s)

SDL provides SDL ETS users with two license types: term (subscription) and perpetual. Licenses are obtained on an individual basis by contacting Customer Support. Here you can learn how to obtain ETS licenses, and where to save them.

About this task

A valid license is needed to unlock the product and specific features.

The license file enables the following:
  • Translation with the licensed language pairs
  • Level of concurrency (CPU cores), for higher translation throughput.
  • Product activation period (for subscription licenses: start and expiration date)

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the data folder under the ETS installed directory.
If you used the default installation parameters, those paths are:
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\SDL\SDL ETS\data
    • Linux: /opt/sdl/ets//data
  2. Locate a file called myhosts.json.
  3. Email the file to SDL, specify the language pairs and number of CPU cores the license needs.
  4. Once you receive the license file, save it under the ETS installed directory. The license file must be named sdl-ets.lic.
If you used the default installation parameters, those paths are:
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\SDL\SDL ETS
    • Linux: /opt/sdl/ets/

What to do next

For multi-server deployment, repeat the steps above to license each ETS machine that will run a T-server.
