Connecting to a Machine Translation application

You can connect to SDL Machine Translation Edge or SDL Machine Translation Cloud by entering the credentials associated to either of these applications.

About this task

The SDL Instant Translation Browser plug-in is compatible with SDL Machine Translation Edge 7.x or higher (formerly known as SDL ETS) OR SDL Machine Translation Cloud 4.x or higher (formerly known as SDL BeGlobal).

Procedure

  1. Open a compatible web browser and select the SDL logo icon in the browser toolbar.
  2. In the settings window, under Server Setup, select the SDL machine translation provider you have access to:
    • Select Machine Translation Cloud and under Authenticate with:
      • To authenticate with username and password, select User/Password and enter the required credentials.
      • To authenticate with a Client ID, select Client ID/Secret and enter the required credentials.
    • Select Machine Translation Edge and enter the details for Server Name and Server Port:
      • To authenticate with a username and password, select User/Password and enter the required credentials.
      • To authenticate with an API Key, select API Key and enter the required information.
  3. If you connect to Machine Translation Cloud via user/password, you see the SDL ID dialog. If a company has a federation agreement with SDL, company users are redirected to the company specific login, as soon as they enter the login email. Some users prefer not to see any reference to SDL, but immediately go to their corporate login. To do so, provide a connection code through the Corporate Login button. Your local administrator can inform you if this setting is active.
  4. Select Test Server to check whether the connection was successful.
