Adding a topic template

You can add a topic template to the Content Manager repository for users to apply when creating topics.

Before you begin

  • You must be a member of the system administration user group.
  • You must have permission to edit and store objects in the Content Manager repository.

Procedure

  1. Login to the Content Manager web client.
  2. To add a value to the LOV:
    1. Select the Settings tab.
    2. Select Lists of Values (LOV) in the left pane.
    3. From the Available List of Values, select Topic type.
    4. Click Get Values.
    5. Click Add.
    6. In the Add Value window add the name of the template in the Name field.
      For example, if adding the DITA specialize Learning Plan template, enter Learning Plan.
    7. Optionally, add a Description which explains the proper use of the template.
    8. Click OK.
  3. Create the topic template:
    1. In the Content Manager web, select the Repository tab.
    2. Open System > Editor template then select Topics.
    3. Click the New Object icon in the top right pane.
    4. Enter the the name of the template in the Title field and select Topic from the list in the Content Type field.
    5. Click Next.
    6. Click Next in the Add Topic Document Version window.
    7. Click Browse next to the File field in the Add Topic Document Language window.
    8. Select the template file to add.
  4. Release the template so users can select it.
    1. In the Content Manager web, select the Repository tab.
    2. Open System > Editor template then select Topic .
    3. Select the template you added in the upper right pane.
    4. Select the language in the bottom right pane.
    5. Click Properties from the menu on the bottom right.
    6. In the Topic Document Language Properties window, select Released from the Status list.
    7. Click Modify.
