Installing or upgrading Content Delivery

There are a list of choices for installing or upgrading Content Delivery, each sharing only a part of the actions and settings. After making sure the common requirements are met, check out the specific instructions depending on your situation. Follow the specific set of instructions and then run the appropriate verifications.

Type of operationDescription
Bundled installContent Delivery is installed along with an open source web application server (Jetty with this version) and all the settings are made in an automated way. This type of installation is available only on Windows systems.
Non-bundled installOnly Content Delivery is installed, no server. This applies to cases when you already have a web application server installed, or when you intend to install capability and server in a separate way. This type of installation is available on both Windows and Linux systems. All the settings and examples described in this documentation are based on the Apache Tomcat server.
UpgradeAn upgrade from SDL KnowledgeCenter 2016; SDL KnowledgeCenter 2016 SP1 or later and SDL Knowledge Center 2016 SP2 will not require a database cleaning, but any update involving earlier versions have to include a delete, restore and setting of the database.

Making a database backup before any operation is still highly recommended in all cases.
