Adding objects to the map within Publication Manager

The map contains references to topics or other maps. The structure of the references (hierarchy) determines the structure of the publication. You can add objects to the map from the Publication Manager. This is an alternative way from editing in your authoring tool.

Procedure

  1. In the Publication Manager, open a publication:
    1. Click Publication > Open...
The tree view of the repository is displayed.
    2. Locate the folder in the repository that contains your publications and click on it.
    3. In the right pane of the window, select the publication you want to open.
    4. Click the Open button.
  2. Check out the Map in the publication.
  3. In the publication tree, right-click on the topic where you want to insert before, or as a child reference to another topic, then either:
    • click Add within if you want the referenced object to be inserted as a child of the selected topic
    • click Insert before if you want the referenced object to be inserted before the selected topic
  4. Click Browse... to navigate to the folder that contains the topic you want to add.
  5. Select the object you want to insert then click Insert.
  6. Enter data for other desired XML attributes stored on the link element then click OK.
A reference to the object is added to the map.
  7. Check in the map when you have finished adding topic references.
