Templates for your authoring tool are stored in the repository and are used when you create new objects.
About this task
Templates for your authoring tool are stored in the repository in the folder System > Editor Template. Only users belonging to the System Management user group can access this folder.
Procedure
From the Content Manager web client, open the folder System > Editor Template.
Create a subfolder.
This folder name is used to create a tab in the Select Template window.
Add the XML file that you want to serve as a template in the new folder.
The title of the template is used as the label for your template.
Note: Before the template becomes visible, it must be released.
What to do next
Note:
All the elements, attributes and attribute values inside the template XML files are used as default values for the objects (topics, maps, library topics) that are created from them. Therefore, SDL advises that you add templates with as few attributes and identifiers as possible.
Troubleshooting:
If no templates appear in the XML authoring tool, you should verify that the XML objects are released and check that they are of the type Map or Topic.
If you cannot create new topics, the plug-in SETMASTERORMAPID may need to be configured. Contact SDL Professional Services if you need assistance.
