Checking in objects

Checking in an object saves the data in the repository. Checking in data ensures that the repository contains the most up-to-date version of the object.

About this task

You can check in objects which you have checked-out and are located in your local storage directory.

Procedure

  1. From your XML authoring tool, click SDL Knowledge Center > Check in or > Check in All.
    The Check in dialog appears.
  2. To edit the work flow information (optional; to be done when the object is ready for the next task or status):
    1. Click in the Change status check box.
    2. In the Status field, select the appropriate status.
  3. To check in the object, do one of the following:
    • To check in the object and remove the lock in the repository, click OK.
    • To write the recent modifications into the repository but keep the object checked out, click in the Keep checked out check box then click OK.

The data is updated in the repository and remains open for additional edits in the authoring tool. You can use this option, for example, when modifying a topic that contains data to be referenced. Add or change the data then check in the modifications so you and others can referenced the new data while you continue to work, modifying the topic.

Results

While performing Collaborative Review for reviews, know that Checkin results in an automatic update of the topic in Content Delivery; that is, the topic is automatically published to Content Delivery.
