Document Views

You can toggle between different views in Content Editor, depending on how you like to view the content.

There are three views available for the content you are editing in the Content Editor:
WYSIWYG view
The default view is a "What You See Is What You Get" view where content is shown as readable, accessible text while the underlying structure is not shown. Distracting features of structured editing such as elements and attributes are not shown, allowing the user to focus on the content.
Tags On View
In the Tags on view you can see both the topic content and tags to show the XML structure. This allows users to see both content and structure clearly. Your editor configuration determines which tags are rendered and what names they use. You can edit the content in this view, but you cannot edit the tags.
XML source

In XML view, you can see both the topic content and the mark-up used to structure the topic. Elements and attributes are visible, allowing you to focus on the structure. You can edit the content in this view, but you cannot type or edit tags (structure attributes).

You can switch between document views by clicking Document View on the Home tab, and then select the view you want to use from the list that appears.

The content is the same but each view displays the content in a different way. Content selected in one view is still highlighted when you switch to another view. By default, documents appear in the WYSIWYG view.
