Exploring comments (tabular view)

Comments in tabular view consists of a header, a ribbon, and a tabular view for interacting with comments created in topics.

Above the ribbon, the total number of comments in the table view appears. For example, Comments (5) indicates that "5" is the total number of comments in the current table view.

The ribbon includes icons (left to right) used to refresh, change status on, or delete one or more comments. If you do not have the proper permissions, these icons are inactive (dimmed).

Each row in the table contains a single comment, ordered newest (at the top) through oldest (at the bottom). Although replies are not shown in the table, they do affect comment order. Actions (such as delete and change status) that you make on a comment can affect replies, too.

The columns contain selectors or attributes for the individual comments, as summarized in this table:
ColumnPurpose
Check BoxSelect one or more comments to be affected by a group action (such as delete or change status).

Clicking the selection check box in the column header selects or de-selects all rows on the active page.

AuthorShows who made the comment.

You can filter comments by author.

CommentShows the first 320 characters of the comment.

If the comment is longer, an ellipsis is added to the end of the visible portion of the comment.

TopicShows active links to the topic (not available from Publication Manager).

You can click this link to open the topic in a new window where you can view replies, or add them.

For detached comments in publications that no longer exist, the link is not active. For detached comments in topics that no longer exist, clicking the link will briefly display a Topic has been deleted and cannot be opened message and then disable the link.

PublicationShows the publication that contains the topic commented on (not available in Publication Manager).

You can filter comments by publication, as a topic may be referenced in multiple publications.

RepliesShows the number of replies that have been made to each comment.
Status

Shows the current status icon for the comment.

You can change the status using either of these methods:
  • Click the drop-down list in the Status column and then click a different status.
  • Select multiple comments and then click the Change Status icon (drop-down list) in the ribbon.

You can filter comments by status by clicking on the filter icon clicking a status type from the drop-down list.

ModifiedShows when a comment was last modified.
The modification order and dates are updated automatically. For example, if you add a reply to a comment that is lower in the table and then refresh the table:
  • The comment moves up in the tabular order.
  • The Modified date changes to reflect the change.

You can filter comments by modification date by clicking on the filter icon and specifying start and end dates.

Comments organizes comments into multiple pages of 20 comments each. Displaying 1-nn of nn comments, located beneath and to the left of the bottom row, shows the number of comments visible in the active page (1-20, 21 - 40, 41 - 60 ... unless there are fewer comments on the last page of table) and the total number of comments in all pages.

Page controls, located beneath and to the right of the bottom row, let you navigate through pages. To return to the Content Delivery landing page, click Home in the breadcrumb trail.
