Inserting Ordered and Unordered Lists

A list is a common block element. Ordered and unordered lists are two types of lists in DITA.

Before you begin

Decide whether to use an ordered or unordered list.

About this task

You can insert a list in the structure only where it is valid according to the XML schema.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that the focus (cursor) is in a location where you can insert a list.
  2. Click the command for the list you want to use (Unordered List or Ordered List).

The first list element appears with a number (ordered list) or a bullet (unordered list).

  3. Add more content, either by typing text or inserting another (nested) element such as a table, another list, or an image.

The list has started, and new list items are added each time you type content and press Enter.
